Bitdefender GravityZone has once again demonstrated its leadership in independent evaluations, successfully earning the prestigious AV-Comparatives Approved Business Security Product Award for July 2025. This significant achievement in the latest AV-Comparatives Business Security Test (H1 2025) underscores Bitdefender’s exceptionally high protection and remarkably low false-positive rates. AV–Comparatives placed Bitdefender at the top right corner (chart below), which verifies that Bitdefender delivered the greatest efficacy and the fewest false positives (FPs) simultaneously.

These outstanding results come from a comprehensive assessment where 17 vendors submitted their security products for rigorous testing across three critical components: the Real-World Protection Test (March-June), the Malware Protection Test (March), and the Performance Test (June).
To be certified, products must score at least 90% in both the Real-World Protection Test and Malware Protection Test. Certification further mandates zero false alarms on common business software, an overall false positive rate on non-business files below the ‘Remarkably High’ threshold, and fewer than fifty overall false alarms on any clean software/websites. Additionally, a strong performance score and the resolution of all reported bugs are required.
In this post, we will discuss the Real-World Protection Test and Malware Protection Test in detail.
Real-World Protection Test (March-June)
The AV-Comparatives Business Security Test, with its dynamic nature, aims to mimic real-world conditions by using a rigorous test set of 438 distinct cases, continuously evaluated from the beginning of March 2025 until the end of June 2025. These test cases specifically aim to use visible, relevant, and current malicious websites/malware that present a genuine risk to users. This includes live drive-by exploits – malicious code or techniques that successfully and automatically infect a user’s device if they simply visit a compromised website without any active participation or even awareness from the user, alongside URLs that point directly to malware executables, thereby causing the malware file to be downloaded.
During these evaluations, if the malware was not detected and the system subsequently became infected or compromised (meaning not all malicious actions were fully remediated by the tested security product), the outcome was categorized as ‘System Compromised’.
While a top priority for any security solution is to accurately detect and block threats, it is equally crucial to minimize false positive detections. FPs can be highly resource-intensive for security teams, consuming valuable time and effort in investigating non-existent threats, which can lead to significant alert fatigue among analysts and potentially cause legitimate threats to be overlooked or dismissed.
The ‘False Alarms’ test within the Real-World Protection Test is structured into two distinct parts: identifying domains that were incorrectly blocked during web browsing activities and detecting files that were erroneously blocked during download or installation processes. All non-malicious domains or URLs that were wrongly intercepted and blocked by the evaluated security product were precisely counted as FPs.
Chart: Real-World Protection Test Results
In AV-Comparatives’ Real-World Protection Test, Bitdefender is the leading solution, blocking 437 out of 438 threats for a 99.8% protection rate while maintaining an exceptionally low FP count of just 1.
Bitdefender consistently achieves low false alarm rates and strong protection outcomes through a multilayered security strategy that includes prevention, protection, detection, and response—powered by the Bitdefender Global Protective Network, advanced machine learning, and expert-driven threat intelligence. These technologies work in tandem to ensure minimal disruption to users while keeping systems secure.
Malware Protection Test (March)
The second component of the AV-Comparatives evaluation was the Malware Protection Test. This test evaluated the security solution’s ability to protect a system against 1,018 recent malware samples. Any samples not detected by the on-access scanner were then executed on the test system with full Internet access. If a product failed to prevent or fully reverse all changes made by a specific malware sample within a specific time, that test case was categorized as a miss.

While all evaluated products achieved zero false alarms on common business software, a supplementary false alarm test was performed on non-business software and uncommon files. In this supplementary test, Bitdefender was classified as a top vendor, achieving a very low FP rate on non-business software and uncommon files.

Performance Test (June)
The third aspect of the AV-Comparatives evaluation centered on the Performance Test, which meticulously assessed the impact of each security solution on system speed. The Single AV-C performance test simulated a wide array of file operations typically executed by a computer user, including copying different types of clean files from one location to another, archiving and unarchiving files, downloading files from the internet, and launching applications (opening documents).
